Delaware revenue forecast raised
State revenue projections improved slightly Monday, buoyed by some positive tax data and an uptick in unclaimed property receipts.
But the increases likely won't be enough to stave off budget cuts next fiscal year.
The latest revenue estimates approved by the Delaware Economic and Financial Advisory Council are $33.4 million better than those the panel released in September. Of that additional cash, $26.9 million is expected by the end of the current fiscal year. The other $6.5 million was added to projections for fiscal 2013.
Even though the estimates improved, total revenues are still expected to be 3.5 percent lower than last year.
Experts on DEFAC said the economy is improving, as evidenced by better unemployment figures, but Delaware and the United States are threatened by instability elsewhere.
